After qualifying gate is the institutes select the students or we have to apply?

The institutes will allot seats based on your GATE score but you have to register for the course which you are interested. For each individual institute, you might need to check the cutoff for the same to get a clear idea about your admissions.

IIT admissions are now through COAP where you first register with the IITs and apply for the courses. Next, you register in COAP and check the seats allotted to you. You pay the fees at the institute if you wish to confirm your admissions.

NIT M.Tech admissions are through CCMT which is the common counselling process.You have to register, pay the application fee and then indicate your choice of NITs and courses as per your eligibility.

the admission forms of different colleges releases after the declaratio of the result.the partcipating institutes release their cutoff list and meritlist based on the scor.

so you need to apply to your wishlisted colleges as soon as their form release according their cutoff.

After clearing GATE or more precisely getiing a respected score, you will have to apply to each and every IIT's separetly. Just go to google and type Mtech admission in IITD ( whichever you prefer) and fill up the form with all details including your GATE marks. After this you will get a call from any of the institutes as per their cutoff's.
