I am considering that you are a biology student having maths as your optional subject . Now if you fail in biology and pass in maths then your biology will be replaced by your optional subject i.e your Maths and biology will become the 6th subject i.e your optional subject or the additional subject and your result status will show pass i.e you will pass your 12th .
One such similar incident had taken place with my friend, he had passed in his optional subject but failed in maths i.e his main subject, but in the result he was pass and in the result his optional subject had replaced maths and maths was under additional or optional subject.
So , you don't need to worry, you will pass your class 12th
