Let the $x$ be Rs. 100.
We know, Simple interest = $\frac{\text{Principal × Rate × Time}}{100}$
Now for the first year, interest of 100 rupees at 10% per annum is = $\frac{100×10×1}{100}$ = Rs. 10
and for the second year interest of (100 + 10) = Rs. 110 at 15% per annum is
⇒ $\frac{110×15×1}{100}$ = Rs. $\frac{33}{2}$
So now the total amount becomes = (110 + $\frac{33}{2}$) = Rs. $\frac{253}{2}$
Here Rs. $\frac{253}{2}$ is equivalent to Rs. 20,240.
⇒ 100 rupees is equivalent to ($\frac{20240×100×2}{253}$) = Rs. 16,000
Hence, the correct answer is 16,000.
