With this rank it is difficult to get into top NITs, you only have chances for lower NITs like NIT Goa, NIT Hamirpur, NIT Silchar, NIT Mizoram, NIT Sikkim, etc.

According to me, your best option for mechanical engineering would be IIIT Jabalpur as this branch is well known there with a great infrastructure and opportunities. IIIT Jabalpur is one of the 5 top IIITs of India and very well reputed. It would be the best option for mechanical engineering according to your rank.
