For admission into government engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu , there is no separate entrance exam . Admission is done through TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions) which is conducted by Anna University.

Seats are allotted based on your Class 12 marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics , followed by a counselling process.

For institutes like NIT Trichy , you need to clear JEE Main .
