It was in the year 2009 when Gujarat adopted JEE as mandatory exam for engineering admissions in the state. The exam, which was being taken in the Gujarati language, witnessed a massive jump of aspirants from the state being admitted to IIT and other top tech colleges of the country. If reports are to be believed, in 2009, approximately 150 students took admission in IITs and other institutions of national repute. This number jumped by 800% to 1200 students in 2015.
