Hi Nitish,
Yes you are eligible for NEET and also you can get a chance to give the entrance exams after 12th standard.
Thank you.Good luck.
Hey Nitish!
Don’t worry, you are fully eligible for NEET 2018 if you have completed Classes 11 and Class 12 from a regular Board. Just make sure you:
-
Are completing Classes 11 and 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as compulsory subjects.
-
Are able to clear all of these subjects in your Class 12 final exam.
-
Are able to score an aggregate of 50% marks or higher in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (40% if you are a reserved category candidate) in your Class 12 final exam.
-
Complete 17 years of age by December 31, 2018
As per the tentative NEET 2018 eligibility criteria, candidates should have completed Classes 11 and 12 from any recognized Board that is not NIOS. Your Class 10 Board does not matter in this case. Therefore you are eligible for NEET 2018 if you fulfill the above criteria.
Recent controversy and expected change in eligibility rules
A huge controversy around the eligibility of NIOS students in NEET has been raging for the last one month, with the MCI suddenly deciding to bar all open school candidates from appearing in NEET from 2018 onwards.
Many media reports have recently suggested that the MHRD has overturned the MCI decision and will allow NIOS and open school students to appear in NEET.
However, as per the Gazette of India published on January 23, 2018 , the MCI has already amended the NEET eligibility criteria as per which NIOS students and candidates who have completely their schooling privately will not be allowed. Also, the NEET upper age limit will be reintroduced as per which candidates above the age of 25 years (30 years in the case of reserved categories) will not be eligible to apply. This is likely to stand for NEET 2018 as well and will be confirmed when the official notification is released in the coming days.
