Yes in most of the colleges you get admission through an entrance based test plus your marks in class 12th.
Check admission criteria for different colleges by visiting it's official site.

Hi Shivam,
Its depend on university to university for getting admission. cause in delhi university the admissions are based on the merit based list and the the marks which you have scored in 12TH exam. But in university like Banaras Hindu University the admission are totaly based on the entrance based. so different college and university have different rules for admission.
