There is no age limit to be eligible for Maharashtra Common Entrance Examination. But you should always check the educational qualifications which says, the Candidate must has passed with at least 50% marks in his/her 10+2 or equivalent examination. And for reserved candidates the minimum marks is 45%. If you meet the Eligibility criteria of MHTCET you can appear for it next year again. You can check the detailed Eligibility criteria here

Are there any restrictions on the maximum number of attempts that a candidate is entitled too?

no there is no cap on number of attempts.
