can i study computer engineering
You can either opt for science for 11th & 12th or u may directly select diploma in computer engineering or diploma in IT.
If you choose diploma then :
- It is a 3 year course where emphasis will br given on programming skills rather than maths.
- These subjects will be repeated in degree college with deep knowledge than that of diploma. Since, diploma students start working with computers directly after 10th, they will be having more practical knowledge & more understanding of a computer program than those doing 11th & 12th.
- But this difference during degree can be seen only during the 2nd year. Later, all the students will be equally eligible.
If u choose 11th & 12th science then :
- Since, I was a diploma student, whatever I m going to discuss further is based on the discussions with my friends who have completed their 11th & 12th in science.
- Choose PCM(physics, chemistry, maths). Then u will have to appear for JEE main, JEE advanced, or MHTCET (please confirm about these exams).
- Most of the coaching classes provide a 2 year package i.e. for both 11th & 12th. But their fees are too high !!! If u can study for junior college + JEE main/JEE advanced/MHTCET(please confirm about these exams) yourself without any classes, then that's great !!!
- Engineering Degree is a 4 year course. After diploma, u will be admitted directly to the second year whereas, the junior college students will be admitted to 1st year. Thus, both diploma as well as the junior college students have to dedicate (I mean waste) total 6 years for engineering after 10th.
- For diploma students : 3years in diploma & 3 years in degree
- For junior college students : 2 years in junior college & 4 years in degree.
Thank you::)
Hello Mariammal,
Firstly, I would like to tell you the minimum eligibility criteria for taking B. Tech in computer science and engineering -
1) You must have passed 10 + 2 exams with science subjects such as maths, physics, and English as compulsory courses.
2) Minimum percentage of marks in class 12/ higher secondary Examination is generally from 45% to 50%.
So, according to that, you are eligible for the course.
Diploma in Computer Engineering course is a 3-year diploma level course. The minimum eligibility for which is 10th schooling with at least minimum aggregate marks.
Good luck!
Dear student, yes you can go for the diploma courses but your admission in computer engineering program can be tough. if computers is not your passion then i think you will really struggle ahead. i dont mean to scare you but this is the harsh reality or either way you can go for commerce or arts stream.
i hope this helps. thanks.
