can mechatronic students write gate exam

Yes, you can write if you fulfill their eligibility criteria. But as far as GATE Exam is concerned no seprate paper exists for Mechatronics. You can appear for Mechanical Engineering paper or electronics or electrical engineering paper as these are the closely relatee fields and also many PSUs hire Mechanical Engineers with Mechatronics background.
