Can patients Refer themselves for Physiotherapy

In India, the Health care system is a little different. We do not have Insurance coverage for most Out patient services. For example, in the US the health care and insurance system is different such that over the counter medications and self referrals are not allowed. But in India, self referrals are a common thing. When a patient is suffering from back ache, chances are that he/she would go to the Pharmacy first rather than to a Doctor. Over the counter Medications are quite common. Only when the pain doesnt subside does the patient walk into a hospital and then continue the necessary course of action. And to answer your question, yes, Patienrs cab refer themselves to a Physiotherapist. It is not mandatory that he/she has to go to a MBBS doctor first.
