The syllabus of the any MA English entrance is as follows.
LITERARY TERMS & CONCEPTS
Figures of speech;literary movements, ;literary forms;history of English literature
LANGUAGE & GRAMMAR
Active / passive ; prepositions; questions tags ; articles ; synonyms and antonyms ; one word substitution with meaning.
COMPREHENSION & WRITING
Comprehension -unknown poem and passage ; letter writing; how to address a letter; business letter; friendly letter ; idioms and phrases.

Preparation Strategy :

Language awareness is knowledge of grammar.

Try to study a good grammar book such as Practical English Usage by Michael Swan, 4th edition, OUP.

Literature awareness includes knowledge of Literary works and literary terminology.

Read Glossary of Literary Terms by M.H Abrams and An Introduction to Literary Studies by Mario Klarer, Routledge.

Read a few classic novels, poems, and plays which are usually prescribed in the B.A English programme.
