I think you may use it if it contains proper information .but you should not take any chance take any other proof like your school I'd card ; adhaar ; driving licence; or other proof.
Because some centre create problems and may waste your time .
So better to take .
Otherwise if you have not any other valid proof than you can take passbook
But during registration have you not filled your adhaar no ?
So you can download your adhaar online.
And take print of it.
