GATE exam (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is a computer-based standardized test conducted at the national level in India with an aim to examine the understanding of various engineering and science undergraduate subjects.
GATE exam is conducted by the following institutes on behalf of National Coordination Board-GATE -
- IISc (Indian Institute of Science)
- IIT Roorkee, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Bombay
GATE exam consists of 65 multiple choice and numerical questions over a 3-hour duration. GATE Score is valid for a period of 3 years.
The following students are eligible to take the GATE exam -
- Bachelor’s degree students in Final Year of Engineering / Technology / Architecture (4 year program after 10+2) programs
- Master’s degree students Final Year in any branch of Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications or equivalent
Pre-final year students are not eligible to appear in GATE exam. There is no age limit for students eligible to appear in GATE exam.

GATE is Indias one of the tops thoughtest and most challenging examination. you may crack the exam but difficult is getting a good rank. Hello Vekuva,GATE is actually an exam which engineering graduates gives ie after completion of their bachelor course BE/BTECH.
it is also organised for the students who did master in science.
Gate 2020 is given to iit delhi for conducting it.
Now Gate exam is also conducted for the entry of candidates into various psus of india.
This exam remains one of the toughest exam.
Gate stands for graduate aptitude test for engineers.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering ( GATE ) is a national-level post-graduate entrance exam that is jointly conducted by the seven IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Guwahati, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore for admission to M.Tech programmes offered by government as well private institutions and also for the purpose for recruitment of various public sectors industry.
The following candidates are eligible to appear in GATE: Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology (4 years after 10+2 or 3 years after B.Sc./Diploma in Engineering/ Technology) and those who are in the final year of such programs.
GATE Syllabus for any stream is a very exhaustive one covering 10-14 subjects from the engineering stream. Students appearing in GATE exam must analyze the GATE syllabus and exam pattern before starting the preparation.
