Can you please tell me about SOIL 2 Year Pgdm program!!! Should I go for it!
SOIL Institute of Management reputation is very good and the flagship One Year PGPM Program has been operating for the last 11 years. It has more than 1200 Alumni and many leaders amongst top companies in India. it is known for its marketing, analystics and human resources specializations and off late the finance cohort is also going strong. SOIL has over the last 10 years disrupted the one year executive MBA market with the PGPM Program ( It takes students with experience only) with its focus on imparting leadership through out of classroom experiences in theater, himalaya meditation camps, social work and doing good to the world around you.
SOIL Latest offering is an AICTE approved govt of India 2 Year PGDM program which has started its first batch in 2019. The institute started this program so that students with no exeprience can apply, because students wanted a government approved program and because SOIL has been very excited to bring the concept of liberal arts and design thinking to MBA education
This program is again a cutting edge program which is going to redefine the 2 year PGDM / MBA experience in India for B school students. Besides the typical management subjects that are taught in all B schools this school teaches subjects on liberal arts and design thinking that provides students a holistic view of the world and makes them extremely creative in their approach to solving business problems.
Term 1 for example has courses on accounts, finance , marketing , OB and communication like other schools but it also has subjects such as psychology, fundamentals of design thinking and self leadership that are taught to students. Immersed with visits to local museums, art appreciation walks, pottery studio workshops and design labs in companies no week is boring or the usual in the PGDM program.
Over the 2 Years students have many out of classrooms immersive experiences such as rural outreach in Himalayas, appreciate enquiry workshops, discover india train journey and global study trek to an asian country.
The faculty and learning pedagogy is the strength of SOIL and it has over 60 full time and adjunct faculty that teach in the program. The strengths of SOIL teaching departments is in marketing , analytics, HR and recently finance as well.
As a program the PGDM is amongst the top B Schools in the country but because it is new the reputation will take a few years to catch up. It is already being rated as a strong competitor to IMI, IMT Ghaziabad in the delhi NcR area and is considered better than the lal bahadur shastri, bimtech , fore and NDIM of the world
If you are considering SOIL then it would be a good idea to consider the PGDM program however do realise that because it is a new program the reputation like any good institute would take a few years to build. Placements for the 2 year program we are yet to see as the first batch has recently commenced however going by the reputation of the 1 Year PGPM ( where the average CTC is 10 lacs) this program should also have good salaries and packages.
