ch3cho and ch3coch3cannot be distinguished by
Hello,
CH3CHO (Acetaldehyde ) and CH3COCH3 (dimethyl ketone ) cannot be distiguished by Grignard reagent because Aldehydes and ketones both react with Grignard reagent. The Grignard reagent is a highly reactive organomagnesium compound formed by reacting a haloalkane with magnesium in an ether solvent. While there are some other reagent or solution by which the Aldehydes and ketones can be distinguished such as Fehling's solution , Schiffs reagent , Tollen's reagent.
Hope this answer will help you
Good luck
