Co ordination compounds short notes
Hi Dear Student,
Coordination compounds are complex molecules made of a central metal atom or ion (usually from the d-block elements) surrounded by ligands, which can be ions or neutral molecules attached through coordinate bonds.
Unlike double salts, coordination compounds do not break completely in solution and keep their identity.
They are very important in:
-
Medicine (example: cisplatin used in cancer treatment)
-
Biology (example: hemoglobin in blood)
-
Industrial catalysis and chemical reactions.
