Dear sir/madam, I'm an NRI candidate, did my A levels abroad with subjects Biology, Chemistry, Maths and English and did my physics under NIOS as an additional subject in India. My PCB aggregate is 49%. While i was applying for NEET UG 2026, When i chose NRI, the only option for category was general so i have chose general. But I have an OBC-NCL certificate with me, am i eligible for any MBBS or BDS courses in India with a combination like this and my PCB aggregate? Thank you.
Hello Dear Student,
if you have 49% aggregate in PCB and possess a valid OBC-NCL certificate , you may still be eligible for medical admissions where the applicable eligibility criteria allow relaxation for OBC candidates.
Important points:
• General category candidates typically need 50% PCB aggregate .
• OBC-NCL, SC, and ST candidates are usually eligible with 40% PCB aggregate under NEET eligibility rules.
• To claim OBC-NCL benefits, you must have a valid OBC-NCL certificate in the prescribed format and satisfy the relevant counselling authority's requirements.
• If you entered the wrong category during the application process, category changes are sometimes permitted during counselling or document verification, depending on the counselling authority's rules. This is not automatic and should be verified with the specific counselling body.
• If you completed qualifications through NIOS or foreign boards such as A-Levels, you may need additional documentation, including an equivalence certificate where required.
For NRI quota admissions, eligibility requirements can vary by institution and state, so you should check the specific college's admission rules before applying.
Hope it helps!
