Town Planning is a technical and political process concerned with the development and design of land use and the built environment, including air, water, and the infrastructures passing into urban areas passing into and out of urban areas, such as transportation, communications, and distribution networks
The subject of town planning demands the knowledge of various professions, especially those of engineering, architecture and surveying.
The principles of Town planning are:
1. Zoning
The town should be divided into suitable zones such as commercial, domestic, industrial, etc.
2. Green Belt
It is a non-developmental zone which is located on the periphery of the town. It usually prevents the chaotic spread of the town, confining its size.
3. Housing
Housing has to be carefully done by taking into consideration the population of the town.
4. Public Buildings
These should be well grouped and well distributes throughout the town
5. Recreation Centres
They include the recreational activities of the towns such as creation of parks, Walking and cycling tracks, etc.
6. Road Systems
The roads should be properly provided by taking into consideration all the By-Laws, Obligatory places and other factors.
7. Transport Facilities
The transportation facilities should be proper so that it should be convenient for people to save their time.
