Hi

Double fertilization is a type of fertilization in which two male gametes fuse with single female gamete

It takes place in plants
An unfertilized ovum has three antipodal cells, 1 egg cell along with two synergids and 2 polar central cells
First male gamete fuses with egg cell and this process is called syngamy another male gamete fuses with polar central cell called triple fusion.

Thus , as fertilization takes place two times in this process it is known as double fertilization
