You can prepare but it depends upon you .
And also that how much concept you have read and how you study your NCERT ( during school days)
If you know all the concepts and theories than you can start solving numerical .
But you need a guider or teacher who can help you and solve your queries and doubts.
Also there are some extra concepts and some tricky and some short steps formulas which can be taught to you by a experience and good teacher.
But if you do self study you can score good marks in JEE mains .
But you definitely need some one for the JEE advanced.
So good luck
Yeah ,if you are well distinguished and expert in solving jee mains paper, sure you will not need coaching .
It all depends on the human skill.
If you are really good in efficient solving ,and yet you qualified jee mains ,so i think no need of coaching.
Thank you
