IAS:
- IAS officers deal with Public Administration and Policy Formulation and Implementation.
- The training session for IAS officers is held at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) located in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand.
- The topmost position of all the administrative services.
- Candidates who hold the topmost rank are allotted IAS.
- It has more powers than IPS officers.
IPS:
- IPS officers are charged with investigating crime and maintaining public order in the area where they are posted.
- IPS Officers are trained at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) located in Hyderabad, Telangana
- After the allotment for IAS is done other top rank holders are allotted IPS
- Second in Rank after the IAS
- It has less powers than IAS.
