Correct Answer: Equation II
Solution :
Equation I:
17 – 21 + 86 ÷ 2 × 13 = 387
On interchanging the mathematical signs, we get –
17 × 21 + 86 ÷ 2 – 13 = 387
On solving the L.H.S. of the equation –
= 17 × 21 + 86 ÷ 2 – 13
= 17 × 21 + 43 – 13
= 357 + 43 – 13
= 387
Equation II:
10 + 63 – 12 × 259 ÷ 7 = 739
On interchanging the mathematical signs, we get –
10 + 63 × 12 – 259 ÷ 7 = 739
On solving the L.H.S. of the equation –
= 10 + 63 × 12 – 259 ÷ 7
= 10 + 63 × 12 – 37
= 10 + 756 – 37
= 729 ≠ 739
So, the equation II is incorrect. Hence, the second option is correct.
