Do I need to prepare myself to join an engineering college for the CSE branch?

You don't need to do any special preparation when you are going to any institution because the first semester starts from the scratch. Colleges have to take every student forward in the same manner. Different students come from different backgrounds all over the country so it is required to bring all of them on the same platform first.
But now, due to this lockdown situation as you have ample of time and resources available, one of things which you can do is to try to equip yourself with a particular programming language skill in a good way. The deeper you go in programming the better you will be prepared for your future course at any engineering institution. This is not a requirement, it is just additional cherry on the cake which will help you.

To get admission in B. Tech CSE branch you need to qualify JEE Mains or the entrance exam which is conducted by the college (in which you want to take admission). And to clear jee mains or any other entrance exam, only 12th board class syllabus is not enough. Go through the syllabus of entrance exam and start preparing.
