Does backlog affect CGPA?

I had 1 backlog and later cleared it.i had 1 sem cgpa 5.but my over all b.tech cgpa is 7.9. 10th 8.8 cgpa. 12th 81.2%.would having a backlog affect in interview? are my academics good enough to get into iims?.if my academic record is not good enough for iims what b schools i can target?

Your CGPA can be improved if you clear the backlog and score more than the previous backlog’s marks. However, if the achieved scores are not up to the standards, it can effect the overall CGPA.
