Doing D.M after M.D is worth for it??
Hello Shivaji,
Yes doing a superspecialisation after post graduation is most definitely worth it.
In our country, doing MS/MD after MBBS has become as common and basic as doing a graduation alone.
Nearly everyone aspiring to be a successful doctor does MD/MS after MBBS.
What gives you an edge over others is your super-specialisation.
The most reputed and well paid fields as of now are cardiology and gastro-enterology. But there are a lot of other fields like Nephrology, Endocrinology and all are growing in demand.
A DM degree gives you a better understanding of the specific system and it’s diseases and treatments.
Any patient would prefer visiting an endocrinologist over a general physician with lets say a thyroid problem.
Especially in big cities, a DM would offer better employment opportunities and better patient input than only an MD
