Usually for claiming seat under farmers quota the 1st and foremost criteria is that the applicant should be coming from an agricultural background where they need not to be owning agricultural land but also people dependent on agriculture to meet their livelihood, eg: farm labourers, contract farmers.
source of income of the applicant or his family should come from agriculture and it's allied activities. In case of parents being an employee, their salary should be lesser than that of which they earn through agriculture. If the salary is higher than that of families agricultural income then the applicant cannot claim the quota.
