NEET 2025: QP & Answer Key (Code 45, 46, 47 & 48)
NEET 2025: Expected Cutoff | Cutoff for MBBS Government Colleges
We have Government Medical Colleges, Private Medical Colleges and Deemed/Central Universities. Counselling for all seats is conducted at 2 levels i.e. All India Level and State level. Private Medical Colleges do not participate in All India Counselling and the seats are filled through State Counselling alone. And for appearing for State Counselling you need to hold the domicile of that particular State. Or else the only other option is through Management Quota. Under All India Quota, All the 15% of All India Quota Seats except for Jammu and Kashmir, 100% Seats at Deemed and Central Universities, IP Quota seats in ESIC Colleges, Seats at AFMC, AIIMS and JIPMER are filled by DGHS. There are Round, 1, Round 2 and Mop up rounds of counselling at All India Level. For example, if you belong to Rajasthan, but want to secure a seat in any other State's Government Medical College, you have to appear for All India Counselling. The 85% State Quota and Private Colleges are filled by the respective State Authorities. Again if you belong to Rajasthan, you can participate in State Counselling of Rajasthan and other State whose domicile you have. But you can participate in Karnataka's Sttate Counselling because it is an Open State. There are Round 1, Round 2 and Mop up rounds for State Counselling. And there are 3 Categories in Private Medical Colleges. Category A is the Government Quota Seats. And only candidates of the home State are eligible to apply for these seats. B Category seats are also called Management Quota Seats and they are filled through State Counselling and the remaining seats are filled through direct Admissions by contacting the College directly provided the Candidate has registered for the respective State Counselling and has not been able to secure a seat in the Counselling. Here the fees is usually nothing less than 40 lakhs. The last Category is NRI seats Category and you cannot apply for that. Now during the choice locking period, you have to select Colleges that you want to select as your preferences and then during counselling phase, you are allotted a seat based on merit come preference. Now once you get a seat in a Medical College, you can either accept it or want to appear for 2nd round of counselling. If you do not want to take up the seat, you have an option of Free exit where in you needn't resign from the seat and you will not be penalised. But if you want to take up the seat, you have to go to the allotted college and join the college within the mentioned time. Free exit is only an option for Round 1.
