For EWS certificate family income and applicants income is considered (siblings is not considered) but while filling IIM applications college specific they are asking whole family income including siblings which would surpass the threshold of EWS. Does my admission gets rejected due to this
Hello,
For EWS reservation, eligibility is decided strictly as per Government of India rules mentioned in your valid EWS certificate. As per the guidelines, “family” generally includes parents and minor siblings (and spouse/children if applicable). Income of major earning siblings is usually not counted while issuing the EWS certificate.
If you already have a valid EWS certificate issued by a competent authority, your eligibility is based on that certificate. IIMs will verify your category status during document verification using the official certificate, not only the self-declared income you filled in the form.
If the form asks for total family income including siblings, fill it honestly as instructed. Admission is not rejected automatically unless you fail to produce a valid EWS certificate or if there is a mismatch/misrepresentation. If confused, you can email the specific IIM admissions office for clarification.
Hope it helps!
