GATE exam is attempted by more than 9 lakh aspirants every year and the passing percentage is only 13 to 18% of all students appeared. The qualifying marks that a candidate needs to score varies every year according to the number of students appearing and the difficulty level of the paper.

It is difficult to specify the number of students qualifying from any particular institute. It depends upon several parameters like the subject itself, the GATE cut-off that particular year, the number of candidates sitting for the exam, the difficulty level of the paper etc to mention a few.
