Full details about mitochondria
Hello Sangeeta
Here is information about Mitochondria
Mitochondria are double-membrane cell organelles known as the “powerhouse of the cell” because they produce energy in the form of ATP through cellular respiration. They consist of an outer membrane, a highly folded inner membrane forming cristae, and an inner matrix that contains enzymes, mitochondrial DNA, and ribosomes. Mitochondria are unique as they have their own DNA and can replicate independently, supporting the endosymbiotic theory. They are found in most eukaryotic cells, and their number depends on the energy requirement of the cell, with higher numbers in active cells like muscle cells.
Hope it helps.
