Goa was earlier a part of the Portuguese Empire when the Portuguese travellers travelled back to India in the 14th century and invaded Goa as their capital state.
On 19th December 1961, Goa was made a union territory along with Daman and Diu and on 30th May 1987, Goa was named as a state of the Indian subcontinent.
