Hello everyone. I am second year student of production engg. I want to know what can I do in future to related to my branch.

In your final semester you'll have to work at a plant or factory for 6 months the thing with production engg is that it's hands on application in the industry is more than mechanical. You'll learn stuff in more depth cause it is a core field. With that comes a huge disadvantage that finding jobs will be harder where as your peers in mechanical can easily get a job. Once u get a job your growth in pay checks will be exponential. As with experience will come more salary. Don't worry in some cases it's found that production engg are more efficient than mechanical engg..working at a plant or assembly line etc the same jobs mechanical engg get you will be eligible for them.

See in foreign they treat production engineering with more respect and as a core field but India that's not the case. So be ready to join private companies as government companies won't welcome you as they are living in 1900s standards as usual. But there's some hope as make in India means production in Indian thus production engineering will be in demand soon so get ready with good grades there's a good chance a huge demand will come soon.

I rarely heard about production engineering. Production engineer's should have a large amount of knowledge of engineering practices and should be aware of managing. There are some jobs available for your field but they require experience. I suggest you to choose jobs related to electrical or mechanical.
As production engineering works with the combination of manufacturing and managing sciences you can go with the jobs related to automobile , electrical or mechanical.

I feel that Production engineering has huge scopes in the market- given that you go in the right path. If you are interested in the manufacturing side, then an MS would be best. On the other hand, Industrial Engineering deals with optimisation of processes and that could be another path that you could take. MBA in operations and scm would be another path.

A few fields where production engineer get placed are :

Automobile companies- For inspection, quality control, operation of automated equipments etc.

Manufacturing industries- For inspection, quality control, operation of automated equipments, to control assembly line, production management etc.

Food processing industries- For inspection, quality control, Production management etc.

Railways- Manufacturing processes and its control etc.

Process industries.

Space and other research organizations.

Government and private companies.

Defense.

IT companies.
