By DNS I assume you are asking about Diploma in Nautical Science. DNS is a one year residential program leading to B.Sc., Nautical Science after 18 months of sea service.The eligibility or academic requirements to join this course includes pass in (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60% and with 50% marks in English language at 10th or 12th std exam.So going by the rule , you are not eligible to join DNS as you have a PCM average of 57%. But you may either go for any private marine studies institute or try IMA ( International Maritime Academy ) in Chennai accepts candidates with less that 60% for DNS program . Hence you may check it out once.Also there are other ways in which you can join merchant navy which you can explore like taking up marine engineering and apply for officer roles.
