First of all, 12,468 rank with SC-2 category is actually a pretty good position in TG EAPCET.

For VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology, CSE AIML is definitely possible for SC category candidates. Previous cutoff trends show SC closing ranks for CSE AIML going around 12k–14k in some rounds, so you do have a realistic chance, especially in later/sliding rounds.

Now coming to your confusion between:
• CSE (Data Science)
• AIDS (AI & Data Science / AI & DS)

My clear suggestion for future scope would be:

1. CSE (Data Science) → Better overall choice

Why I’d suggest CSE DS over AIDS:
• Closer to core CSE curriculum
• Better flexibility for placements
• Easier for software/developer roles
• Companies generally prefer broader CSE-related branches
• You can still learn AI/ML separately through projects and certifications

AIDS is also a strong future-oriented branch, but sometimes it becomes a little niche/specialized compared to CSE DS.

So if you get both, I’d personally suggest:
CSE (Data Science) > AIDS

And yes, definitely keep VNR in your top options because it’s one of the best colleges under EAPCET in Hyderabad.
