Hey, can I get the idea of PGP in media n entertainment course of 1 year in welingkar school , Mumbai campus . This is good or not regarding
Dear Ram,
The PGDM you are referring to is a 2-year full-time program and not a 1-year program as you have said. It is an AICTE-approved program with a tuition fee of Rs. 5.5 lakhs per annum. The program will equip you with various facets of Media and Entertainment industry and also managerial skills to work in the industry. As Welingkar Institute of Management and Research is located in Mumbai, the hub of India's entertainment industry, the hands-on experience you get there will help. However, see whether you fulfill the eligibilty requirements liek 50% in UG, clearing CAT or XAT etc.
Other institutions like Whistling Woods International also offer a similar program via Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
Joining the program is a good idea as Media and Entertainment industry has been shoing good growth and the potential of employment is always there. The only disadvantage would be that once you get qualified, your employment options are limited to Media and Entertainment industry alone as other sectors maynot welcome a candidate with specialisation in a different domain. So it would be a good idea to do a general MBA/PGDM and go for a one-year exceutive program at, say, SPJIMR.
