Dear Student,
The Indian Foreign Service Examination is conducted by UPSC. This examination is conducted by three phases:
- Preliminary Examination. (Phase one - 200 Marks, duration is two hours. Phase two- 200 marks. duration is two hours).
- Mains Examination.( There are nine papers in this examination which are descriptive types of questions.)
- Interview.
Eligibility:
- The Nationality must be Indian.
- The minimum age limit should be 21 years. The maximum age limit for general candidates is 32 years, for SC/ST candidates the limit is 37years and for OBC candidates it is 35years.
- The minimum qualification should be under graduation.
There are so many different posts in this job, so the salary also varies for that. The minimum starting salary is 12,700 INR.

The salary of Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer will be around 2 Lakhs to 2.5 Lakhs. The UPSC IFS Exam 2020 is conducted in two stages namely, Prelims and Main, which are then followed by an interview.
You should clear UPSE exam and should go though training to become IFS Officer.
There are optional subjects you can chose them for the exam.
List of Optional Subjects for IFS Main Exam:
