Since it is not mentioned whether the receipt is softcopy or hardcopy thus I am taking both the cases.
1. ONLINE RECEIPT - Cyber crimes are very high these days. And online receipt scam involves receiving an email invoice or receipt for a product or service you didn’t purchase. Eg. it may claim that you made a H tstar subscription even if you didn't. Before clicking on any of the links provided by these mails or messages. Check the mail id and tally it with the mail-id provided by the company on their official sites. And in case suppose even if you clicked on the link ACT IMMEDIATELY, just change the passwords of your net banking and accounts. Also, you may report the incident to CERT-In(The Cyber Emergency Response Team of India).
2. OFFLINE RECIEPT - For offline receipt the very first thing to check is whether the receipt has an authorized stamp/sign of the organization. Many organizations do use watermarks for security but the fake one will not contain any of it. Before accepting any receipt check it thoroughly because the fake ones either have erroneous or incomplete data.
