The Backward Classes Welfare Department handles OBC certificate cancellations that occur in Bangalore and follows procedures from Anagrasarkalyan.gov.in notices. The IIT counseling admission process for JEE Advanced 2025 needs OBC-NCL certificate validity from April 1, 2025 onwards. For reissue of your current OBC-NCL certificate file a new application with correct information to either Karnataka state portal or appropriate authority. The new OBC-NCL certificate needs to be uploaded during JEE Advanced registration together with any pending declaration. The selection of main JEE categories established at the beginning of registration becomes permanent and unalterable but you can modify registration information for JEE Advanced 2025. The local Tahsildar or BCWD office requires immediate contact for certificate revocation or reapplication.

Understand the Requirement
For IIT JoSAA counselling, the OBC NCL certificate must be issued on or after April 1st of the current year. Since your current certificate is 5 months old, it might not be considered valid for the counselling process.

Apply for a fresh OBC NCL certificate ensuring the issue date is after April 1st of this year.

Community and Income proof
PAN and Aadhaar of parents
Old certificate copy if needed
Latest income certificate showing annual income below 8 lakh if applicable

Mention clearly that it is for IIT JEE counselling purposes as some officers expedite such cases.

It typically takes 7 to 15 days in Bangalore depending on the local office load. Try visiting the office in person for faster processing.

Upload New Certificate to JoSAA
Once you receive the updated certificate, upload it on the JoSAA portal during the document verification stage.

Additional Tip
Keep scanned copies of both the old and new certificates safely. During counselling, if the new one is delayed, you may be allowed to submit an undertaking while waiting for the final document.
