Having given so many competitive exams, I think I can answer this question appropriately.
In my opinion competition too can have different meanings of its own. In education field, business field etc.
The most general meaning of competition can be-
Competition is a situation in which two or more people or groups are trying to get something which not everyone can have.
You can apply this definition to different aspects like we compete with each other to outlast everyone in the exams.
We compete with other companies to gain maximum profit.
Competition leads to increase your skills if you can survive the heat.
