CSIR syllabus consists of topics from 5 subjects - Chemical Sciences, Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Physical Sciences.
- Chemical Sciences comprises topics such as Branches of Chemistry, Organic/ Inorganic/ Physical Chemistry, Medicinal/ Supramolecular/ Environmental Chemistry and so on.
- Earth Sciences includes topics from earth, oceanic and planetary sciences.
- Life Sciences has topics like Cellular organisation, Developmental Biology, System Physiology of plants and animals, Evolution and behaviour, Applied Biology etc.
- Mathematical Sciences has 4 units and topics such as Algebra, Topology, Numerical Analysis, Classical mechanics.
- Physical Sciences has Mathematical Methods of Physics, Classical mechanics, Electronics and experimental methods, Electromagnetic Theory, Atomic and Molecular Physics, Condensed Matter Physics etc.
