Being at home is the best as you don't have to face issues like bad vicinity or bad hostal food . Moreover you can be free from distractions all along . Also the money is saved . And you can be in the supervision of your parents .
So that is the best part .
So you must choose home and if there is a lot of disturbance than study at mid night. That helps.

It varies from people to people. Some people have family crisis and do not get a normal surrounding for studies. But if you cannot afford a hostel then you can try studying at mid night . When there is a lot of silence.
As even hostel have ill effects , as the vicinity matter a lot . So you must mostly stay at home as once you got into hostel , distraction and bad vicinity will follow.

It depend on yourself and your condition in home. If your home has peaceful condition and good conditions for study than it is always better to be at home. But if, your home does not have study conditions than study in hostel.
