These are the two ways to get entry in the Indian Army. Both the entries offer a permanent commission in Indian Army.
1.NDA & NA Examination that is held twice a year
2.Technical Entry Scheme -TES (For High School Science Graduates)
Since you must have either passed the 12th High school exam or will be appearing in the same , you are eligible for the NDA and NA Examinations.
This NDA and NA Examination is held twice a year
i.e NDA I and NDA II by the Union Service Public Commission ( UPSC).
It is conducted to recruit candidates in the Army, Navy and Air Force. On the basis of your written exam results, shortlisted candidates are called for the Interview.
Eligibility:
Age: Applying candidates age must be between16.5 19.5years. He must be born betweenJuly 2, 2001 and July 1, 2004for NDA I. For NDA II, he must be born between2nd January 2002 and 1st January 2005.
Education : 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics.
(Applicant should be unmarried.)
Important dates:
NDA I application date from 8th January 2020 to 28th January 2020. Exam will be conducted on 19th April 2020.
NDA II application date from 10th June 2020 to 30th June 2020. Exam will be conducted on 6th September 2020.
Admit card will be released a few days before the date of examination.
Application fee is Rs. 100. However, ST/SC/NCOs/Ors/Sons of JCOs candidates areexemptedto pay the application fee.
Examination:
Exam will consist of two subjects that are Mathematics and General Ability test. Each paper will be of 2.5 hours and the whole paper will be of 5 hours.

To join the army you will have to clear the defence entrance exam, NDA conducted by UPSC. You can give this exam after your class 12th.
It is conducted twice a year and the exam has two stages: written and SSB interview stage.
ELIGIBILITY
- Nationality- The candidate must be from India, Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet (refugee who came to India before 1962) etc
- Age- The minimum age for eligibility is 16.5 years and the maximum is 19.5 years.
- Marital status- Unmarried
- Physical fitness- Should pass the standards for physical fitness according to the NDA exam.
- Educational qualifications: They are different for all branches but the candidate must pass their class 12th from a recognized educational board.
SELECTION PROCESS
There are two stages of the exam:
- Written Exam - This section is of 900 marks. This section also comprises of two parts: Mathematics(600 marks) and GAT(300 marks). The mathematics section has questions based on class 10th and class 12th syllabus. The GAT section consists of general knowledge (current affairs, history, geography etc) and English (grammar, comprehension etc).
- SSB Interview - This is conducted for intelligence and personality test and it is also conducted in two stages.

There are 3 sections of the Armed Forces- Army, Navy and Air Force. The admission is through NDA Entrance Exam conducted by UPSC. As per NDA age limit the minimum age of the candidate should be 16.5 years and the maximum age limit should be 19.5 years.
Physical standard required for NDA, The candidate must be in good physical and mental health and free from any disease/disability which is likely to interfere with the efficient performance of Military duties. The minimum acceptable height is 157 cm for Army, Navy and Naval Academy while 162.5 cm for Air Force.
