This is the main problem with you youngsters. If you want to prepare for Civil Services then start from now, why to take a long route. Go for BA in History or Political Science and start preparing for Civil Services, if it is your only aim. But as you asked about chemical Engineering too so.

Chemical engineering is ever green field. First clear your mind is chemical engineering is not chemistry .

It's much more then that .chemical engineers are called as universal engineers .They deal with how liquids flow ,we deal with how mass transfer from one place to other ,we deal with heat changes …etc

Chemical engineers are required everywhere .Name a product your using in your daily life I'll tell you how chemical engineer is involved in it.

They produce all the fuels your using in your home LPG,petrol,diesel,kerosine ,and all the remaining ….right from morning your brush ,tongue cleaner ,clothes,textiles,vehicles,steel ,plastic, fuel you use in vehicles, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals everything involves a chemical engineer.
