If you have appeared for jee mains for first time in 2018 (and passing year of class 12th is also 2018), then you have two more attempts left with you in successive years 2019 and 2020 i.e you can attempt jee mains thrice.
But you can appear for jee advanced twice i.e in 2018 and 2019.
