How many Engg. Institutes participated in SIH 2020 and how was their overall performance?
Smart India Hackathon is an initiative that provide students all over the world with a platform to solve some of the problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem-solving. Categories to be judged on were:
- Smart Communication
- Smart Vehicles
- Food Processing
- Robotics and Drones
- Waste Management
- Clean Water
- Renewable Energy
- Securty and Surveillance
- Miscellaneous
- HealthCare and Biomedical Devices
- Agricultural and Rural Development
30 teams of TIET took part, 4 teams reached the grand finale of Software edition at different nodal centres across the country. The final round took place in between 1st August-3 August 2020. Surviving the tough competiton at National level, TWO teams from Thapar Institute achieved 1st Prize in their respective categories in this event and received a prize money of Rs1 Lakh per team.

Out of 30 initial teams from TIET , 9 teams were able to crack the internal hack and finally 4 teams made it to the grand finale of Software edition at different nodal centres across the country. The final round was held during 1-3 August 2020. Being a national event, there was a tough competition among the teams as participation was from various IITs, NITs, and other reputed institutions across the country. TWO teams from Thapar Institute have won 1st Prize in their respective categories in this mega event along with a prize money of 1.00 Lakh per team.
