it's always the quality of time you spen.it depends on ur problem solving skills and ur talent.so whatever makes you comfortable go with it.
never take too much stress by continuous study hours .but choose right material and right source of info make best test books and model questions ur way of practice to crack.work on time management which helps in neck moment time at jee advance AND mains as the its the major role in these comepititive exams

I don't think anyone else is reading the question well. It does not ask how many hours should one study, it only asks about "you".
Honestly, I don't remember well. But on a regular day, except classes in coaching (which was 3 - 4.5 hrs) I just tried to complete the homework (which i was never successful in :p)
I took out time for sports, leisure, sleep, newspaper & food.
So, 24 - (3 or 4.5) - 2 - 2 - 8 - 2 - 3 = 2.5 or 4 hrs perday for self study including HW.
(I sometimes skipped sports, so 2.5 to 6 hrs)
On a holiday, I used to give a 9-12, 2-5 mock test, and then assess my performance (usually after watching a movie).
6 + (3 to 6) = 9 to 12 hrs.
