To get admission in NIT Surathkal for Computer Engineering (There is no CSE at NIT Surathkal), you need to have a rank of around 3000 or more. But it actually depends on other factors like whether you're from Karnataka or not and your category. I'll give you the last year's cutoff for different categories -

Gen - 5173
OBC - 3723
SC - 2312
ST - 356
OS quota
Gen - 2940
OBC - 950
SC - 538
ST - 249
