I assume that you are talking about JEE Main. If that is the case, then let me tell you that JEE Main exam is the only entry gate for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs. This is also the first stage qualifying exam for JEE Advanced, which is the entrance test for IIT Admission.
Through JEE Main, over 25,000 B.Tech seats are offered across NITs, IIITs and CFTIs. Some seats also go vacant every year, which ranges from 1000 to 2500 seats. At rest all seats - around 23000 or above candidates get admission.
